In 1951, a small liberal arts college in Manchester, New Hampshire, asked Irving M. Stanley to install an elevator in the college's administration building. After a successful installation, Stanley used the proceeds to form a new company: Stanley Elevator Company. The school, Saint Anselm College, has since expanded to nearly 60 buildings.
