Passenger Elevators

PASSENGER ELEVATOR SYSTEMS

We offer passenger elevator systems to fit any possible application. System selection, along with unit size and shape, are based on your individual requirements.

Elevators are typically and most economically manufactured in pre-engineered/standard sizes, but we have the capability to provide custom designs to fit code and customer requirements. Our Team works closely with you to ensure the final product fulfills expectations. We take tremendous pride in helping you plan and carry out successful projects by providing premium customer service and an unmatched personal touch.
From low-rise economy models to high-speed elevators serving the tallest observation deck in New England, we can provide an elevator package for any application.

Hydraulic Elevators

Commonly found throughout the country, hydraulic elevators operate with a pump moving liquid (oil based or vegetable based) under pressure into a cylinder. The cylinder contains a plunger that moves the elevator as liquid is pumped into or released from the cylinder through a valve.

Engineering Characteristics

  • Low to medium rise buildings (typically less than 60’ of travel)
  • Low to medium speed (200 ft./min. or less)
  • Optimal for industrial environments

Hydraulic Elevator Types

  • Holed: Hydraulic cylinders placed in a drilled hole
  • Hole-less: The cylinder stands within the hoist way and does not require a drilled hole. This class is typically limited to under 40’ of travel. A holeless elevator is a perfect solution for existing buildings or areas where drilling a jack hole would be too difficult or expensive

Endura A – Holeless “Above Ground” Models

  • Endura A: Single Stage Holeless Elevators (for standard travel up to 12’-8’’, extended travel to 18’-11’’)
  • Endura A: Two-Stage Holeless Telescoping Elevators (for standard travel up to 23’-2’’, extended travel to 28’-6’’)
  • Endura A: Three-Stage Holeless Telescoping Elevators (for standard travel up to 33’-6’’, extended travel to 48’-3’’)

Endura B – Conventional “Below Ground” Models

Hydraulic elevators are now designed to decrease environmental impact. Our Team can assist you in utilizing the following environmentally friendly options:

  • Replacing traditional hydraulic oil with a vegetable oil.
  • Designs for in-ground cylinders that limit the possibility of corrosion.
  • Using hole-less applications to avoid drilling into the ground.

Traction Drawings, Specs, and BMI

Unlike hydraulic elevators, traction elevators are not limited by building height. Traction elevators use a rope and traction sheave system with weights to counter-balance the elevator. Traction elevators utilize either direct current (DC) motors or alternating current (AC) motors. Some modern high-speed elevators move at up to 2,000 feet per minute.

Engineering Characteristics:

  • Medium to high rise buildings (more than 50’ of travel)
  • Medium to high speed (up to 2000 ft./min.)
  • Ideal for buildings where reliability and moving people quickly is essential

Traction Elevator Types:

Gearless Machine
  • Conventional Design with a machine room
  • Machine Room Less(MRL) Design, where the hoisting machine is located within the hoistway

Momentum Standard series

The Momentum Standard series traction elevator features a mini-AC gearless motor mounted in a machine room above the elevator hoistway. Momentum elevators deliver the speed and performance necessary for high rise buildings in an energy-efficient package. Though space is required for an overhead machine room, the elevator equipment is much easier to access for maintenance. The Momentum Standard series is ideal for:

  • Buildings with travel up to 300′-0″
  • Speeds of 350 to 500 fpm
  • Capacities up to 5000 lbs.
  • Standard or Premium Cab finishes

Momentum Performance series

The Momentum Performance Series is the perfect application for high rise buildings that demand custom solutions such as increased speeds or unique cab configurations. This model’s powerful gearless machine, located in an elevator machine room above the hoistway, can be engineered to provide vertical transportation solutions to some of the tallest buildings in the world. The Momentum Performance series is ideal for:

  • Buildings with travel 300’-0’’ and above
  • Standard speeds of 700 to 1,200 fpm, with higher speeds available
  • Capacities up to 5000 lbs
  • Standard or Premium cab finishes and flooring

Synergy Self-Supported: Standard Series

Self-supporting MRLs are ideal for wood-framed buildings, existing construction, or structures not intended to carry the loads of an elevator system.  Elevator loads are transferred from machine at the top of the hoistway to the guide rails, ending in the pit floor below. Compact and lightweight, Self Supported MRLs are the most economical way to outfit your building with energy efficient traction performance.

  • Small footprint: Fits into a standard hydraulic hoistway
  • Up to 85’-0” travel
  • Side-mounted counterweight (allows for front and rear door openings)
  • Speed: 150 fpm
  • Capacity: 2100 – 3500 lbs.
  • Offers limited aesthetic options

Synergy Building Supported: Standard Series

Synergy Building Supported models rely on additional structure in your building for support. This can be accomplished by pockets in a masonry hoistway wall or steel beams at the top of the shaft. Though Building Supported models require additional cost and coordination up-front, they allow for a much greater range of speeds, travel distance, capacities, and aesthetic options.

The Building Supported Standard Series MRL offers additional capacities, speeds, and travel over the Self Supported models. Weights and options are more flexible due to a larger motor, which allows for a wider range of panels, ceilings, or flooring styles in your elevator cab. The Building Supported Standard series is the perfect solution for projects that require upgraded performance and finishes without the need for major engineering or custom equipment.

  • Up to 300’-0” travel
  • Side or rear mounted counterweight
  • Speed: 200 – 350 fpm
  • Capacity: 2100 – 4000 lbs.
  • Offers a medium range of cab & signal options

Synergy Building Supported: Premium Series

Synergy Building Supported models rely on additional structure in your building for support. This can be accomplished by pockets in a masonry hoistway wall, or steel beams at the top of the shaft. Though Building Supported models require additional cost and coordination up-front, they allow for a much greater range of speeds, travel distance, capacities, and aesthetic options.

The Performance Series synergy equipment offers the widest range of speeds, capacities, and aesthetic options. They can be provided in hospital configurations with large cabs, and can even be engineered to accommodate non-standard hoistways. Though the Performance Series uses a larger motor and requires machine beams, the options and customization available make this model ideal for the most demanding elevator projects.

  • Up to 300’-0” travel
  • Side or rear mounted counterweight
  • Machine beams required
  • Speed: 200, 350 & 500 fpm
  • Capacity: 2100 – 5000H, with engineered configurations available
  • Unlimited aesthetic options

As owners increasingly demand energy savings and seek U.S. Green Building Council LEED® certifications, architects, consultants and general contractors have discovered the benefits MRL’s provide to building design. The machine-room-less elevator is the result of technological advancements that often allow a significant reduction in the size of the electric motors used with traction equipment. The need for locating the machine room over the hoistway is eliminated because newly designed, smaller permanent magnet motors (PMM) allow Architects to design the hoistway with the machine as an integral component.

Not only does the MRL design lead to reduced use of both oil and energy for starting and running the elevator—plus the avoidance of potential ground contamination—it also permits more efficient and safe installation techniques and use of valuable interior space.
We are committed to providing elevator products and services that decrease environmental impact and promote sustainability – we stay true to our commitment by offering the MRL elevator option.

Always on the cutting edge of design and technology, we have installed MRLs throughout New England. Our experience with the MRL allows us to provide you with premium design consultation. Contact our Team today to discover how we can help you integrate an MRL into your next building project.
